I've updated yesterday's Blathering with photos and a new entry.

Congratulations to Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff, who have been invited to be
Guests of Honour at Concertino
next July 18-20 in Massachusetts. Other guests will be Erica Neely, Priscilla Olson, and WGBH host and writer Ellen Kushner, according to Gary McGath. I want to go! I must go!!! You can find the convention Web site at http://www.concertino.net.

I went running on Saturday morning. Running in the country is definitely a different experience from running in downtown Toronto. There are no smokers to dodge, no traffic noises, a symphony of birdsong. Plus there are big hills! Much more of a challenge.

Despite the ominous-looking clouds through the day and morning reports, the weather never hit thunderstorm stage during the wedding ceremony. Larkin and Rick got married outdoors as planned, beside a vine-entwined arbour beside a pond on their property. My nieces Olivia and Brittany were flower girls, Garrison was the ringbearer. Garrison had a bit of a meltdown right before the ceremony, however, so had to be carried by my sister-in-law Debbie as he clutched her tearfully, hiccuping sobs providing counterpoint to a beautiful instrumental provided by Daniel LaBrash and his partner on classical guitar and flute.

After the ceremony, guests mingled and munched on finger foods provided by Rick and his staff. Rick, who is a professional chef, also managed the preparation of the dinner at his own wedding. No wonder he looked so tired (but happy) by the end of the day. Larkin was absolutely gorgeous.

I'll be posting more photos throughout the week with additional details. I'm pretty brain-dead right now.

Before signing off, however, I have to say that my first public harp debut went fine! I was very nervous for the first few minutes of playing during the reception; my hands were shaking and I could barely find the right strings. But then I realized that people were still milling about and talking (and not standing listening in horror), so relaxed and started having fun. I even had a few short conversations while playing. :-)

More tomorrow.

Congratulations to the nominees of this year's Pegasus Awards. You can find a list here. (Thanks to Allison for letting me know!) Jodi's song, "The Lady", has been nominated in the Best Song category. I'll be updating the OVFF Web site once I receive the official word from the OVFF concom with deadline info, etc.

Today's Blatherpics:

Jeff took the following photos at his sister's wedding.

Brittany, Larkin and Rick.
Olivia and Brittany as flower girls, followed by Larkin. Olivia took her flower girl duties very seriously, placing each petal very deliberately. When she got to the front, she upended her basket to make sure all the flowers were out.
Rick and Larkin, just after exchanging their vows.
Me on harp during the reception!
