[For Urban Tapestry, GoH gig at Consonance, March 2001]
Urban Tapestry: A Limerick, Two Sonnets, & an Haiku There once were three chicks from Toronto Who made a big name in filk, pronto Those filk concert slots And GOH spots Just tracked them down faster than Tonto. ================================ A bright red rose is their guitarist's hair, 'Tis Allison, voice low and strumming strong, She teaches children for her wages fair, Her filk tenure is over 12 years long. Search high, search low, but never will you find, A more seductive voice than Jodi K's, The Muse's Muse, a web site she designed, Hints not at tones that leave you in a daze. And who will write their silly songs so strange? (When not working on fiction or web site) 'Tis Debbie-O, the flautist who'll arrange To cook the pups in brine 'til they're just right. You'd best not underestimate the wiles Of folk from where the glaciers run for miles. =================================== In 1993 their fates were bound By "Castles and Skyscrapers" tape-recording And later came a CD that was round Named "Myths and Urban Legends", most rewarding! Then followed concerts all the world around And Guest of Honor gigs in spots exotic, Both England and New Jersey liked their sound And Californians found their songs quixotic. And childrens' concerts are a specialty With lullabies and little-kid heart-warmers, And Pegasus has also graced these three, Declaring them the very best performers. But please do not just listen, also meet, The girls, they're not just talented, but sweet. ================================= Songs sweet, sad, and whacked, Allison, Jodi, Debbie, I think you'll like them. |
