Main < FilkFAQ

The purpose of this FAQ is to provide answers to questions commonly asked within the filking community. I've been a member of the filking community for about 25 years now as both a listener and a performer, and hope that the info provided here will be of use to new filkers as well as those curious about this whole "filk" thing. Many thanks to those who have contributed. Please note that my opinions may not reflect those of other filkers. This FAQ should *not* be regarded as being definitive, but only as a rough guide; I will be updating info over time. Wherever possible, I have also included links to other sources of related information. Unfortunately I've had to turn off commenting because of spammers but plan to reinstate commenting once I've switched over to Wordpress on the new server. Question: What is 'found filk'?

'Found filk' refers to songs that were written outside of the filk context, but are appropriate for singing within a filk environment because of particular content, especially that related to science fiction and fantasy. Here is a list of some sf references in music.
