Debbie Ridpath Ohi, Editor-in-Chief

Dear Writers:

When I began Inkspot as a hobby in early '95, I had no idea it would grow into what it is today. It began as a single page of resource links for children's writers; I still remember the hand-drawn logo I created for the header. Since then, Inkspot has grown tremendously, with nearly 50,000 subscribers and 70 staff and volunteers. At last count, the Web site and community area received over 500,000 visits a month. It has received many awards and mentions in publications, both online and offline. Writer's Digest chose Inkspot as one of the best Web sites for writers this year, and Write Magazine chose Inkspot as the #1 writing Web site for writers in its 2001 Yearbook.

None of this would have been possible without the continuing support and encouragement of the online writing community. I can't tell you how much that meant to me, and how thrilled I was each time someone wrote to say that Inkspot had helped them make a sale or inspire them. My heartfelt gratitude goes also to the Inkspot staff; most joined Inkspot not because of a paycheck, but because of a shared love of writing and the writing community. I would like to especially thank Moira and Shane for their support and friendship. We still haven't met each other in person, but plan to remedy that situation soon. :-)

Although I look forward to returning fulltime to my own writing, I will miss Inkspot; it has become so much a part of my life during the past six years. I've learned a great deal from this whole experience, and made many friends along the way. Please keep in touch; I can still be reached at ohi@electricpenguin.com.

Thank you all for this tremendous experience. :-)

Sincerely,
Debbie Ridpath Ohi
Editor-in-Chief and Founder
