From Moira Allen, Managing Editor

(from the final issue of Inklings, Feb. 14/2001)

Dear Readers,

It is my sad duty to inform you that you are reading the last issue of Inklings. On Monday, due to severe budget cuts, Xlibris made the decision to shut down all work on the Inkspot website, and has laid off all Inkspot staff.

Inkspot has been a beacon to the online writing community for six years, and it is with deep regret that we must now say good-bye to that community. You have all been tremendously supportive, and we wish you all the very best in your writing careers.

I have greatly enjoyed my tenure as Managing Editor of Inklings and of the Inkspot website. When I first submitted an article to Debbie back in 1997, I little imagined that my relationship with the site would blossom as it did. I've made many friends through this site, and I know that Inkspot has given me far more than I have given it.

Now it's time to move on. I look forward to the opportunity to spend a bit more time writing. However, editing seems to be in my blood, so I'll be doing that as well, in the context of my own website, Writing-World.com (http://www.writing-world.com). You'll find all my old Inkspot articles and Freelancing 101 columns on that site, along with many other resources. And, as always, I welcome your questions and comments; you can reach me at moira@writing-world.com. I look forward to staying in touch!

Sincerely,
Moira Allen
Managing Editor
