Michelle Sagara's Livejournal
Michelle Sagara's Livejournal (subtitled "Musings of a Curmudgeon in the Making") is worth checking out for some meaty discussions about writing and the writing life. She recently posted a series of detailed comments about one of her contracts, analyzing various clauses and explaining each. Michelle is a prolific sf/fantasy author. Here's more info about her work, for those interested.

Hercorner.com
Hercorner.com is part of HerPlanet.com and focuses on resources and inspiration for women who write. The site includes some useful articles on specific writing topics, like writing contests, historical fiction for children, and how to write synopses. Too many writing sites tend to have vague "how anyone can get published" how-to articles with little practical advice these days; this site was a welcome change. I'm not crazy about some of the ads which have nothing to do with writing (moving services? ceramic flat irons?) but then again, I can't blame the Webmaster for looking for a way to financially support the site. Definitely worth checking out, even if you're not a woman. :-)

Meeting Sal Towse!
Back from Austria but still jetlagged, ugh. BUT today I got to finally meet Sal Towse, my markets editor from Inkspot days and well-known personality on misc.writing. We had e-mailed back and forth quite a bit for years, but never met in person. I was worried about whether we'd be able to recognize each other on the street, but she was wearing an Inkspot.com coat I had given her years ago! I think I must have hugged her a zillion times.
Here's a photo of Sal and me. Be sure to check out Sal's wonderful link resource for writers, which was selected by Writer's Digest last year as one of the best sites for writers.
