Frappr! map
My friend David Brake has inspired me to create my own Frappr! map. I'll echo what David posted in his blog:
"Just for fun and to give me an idea of who visits my site and why, I have put up a Frappr! map for this blog which I encourage you to visit and add yourself to (no registration required). Basically all this is is a really easy to use way of attaching a short note about yourself (and optional picture) to a map of the world."
To include your homepage, just enter your URL starting "http://..." without the HTML code (HTML code isn't accepted). If you're uncomfortable about leaving your full name, a nickname is fine. :-)

Phrase Thesaurus
The Phrase Thesaurus will generate a list of phrases and sayings related to a word you enter. "This writer's resource uses a unique intelligent search function to locate related phrases from whatever you input. Behind the search is a database of the largest collection of English-language phrases and sayings available on the Internet."
Interesting idea, but I was taken aback by the user fee to access this site: US$51 per year?!? Subscription gives you unrestricted search access to the 12,000 phrases in thesaurus database, but it's hard to justify this kind of price when there are many related resources accessible for free.

Angela Hoy: protecting your interests
From Angela Hoy: "Let's face it. We're all going to fly away someday. Protect your interests, and your baby (your book), and most importantly your heirs before you take off." For useful tips on how you can protect your writing, read her blog post When authors die...what happens to their books?

Podcast: Dawn Groves - Write Now
Way back when Inkspot just got started, Dawn Groves promoted my site in her book, Writer's Guide to the Internet. Dawn moved onto other writing projects and also produces a new podcast, Write Now.
"It's a 3-minute podcast to help writers keep going on their projects. I've done three of them so far: Begin with the end in mind, Calming the inner critic, and Word Flow. I plan several more. They're designed for writers to use at the start of a writing session. I set them up for NaNoWriMo participants but I think I'll just keep going because its fun and people are finding great benefit. I use the technique all the time, myself, and it has helped me write a lot of books."
You can check out Dawn's blog and podcasts at Write Now.

John Philip: Write The World
Write The World is a new blog by UK copy writer, editor and educator John Philip. I don't usually mention brand-new blogs but this one already has some meaty content, like Writing to sell - convince, don't con. The aim of the blog is to help writers can improve their writing, with a focus on non-fiction.
