The new Inkygirl...

After seeing the layout of Inkygirl get more and more cluttered, I finally bit the bullet and did a redesign today. My knowledge of CSS is still pretty pitiful, but I'm getting there. I realize there are still a ton of design glitches and inconsistencies scattered throughout the site, plus I'm going to be improving the layout...thanks in advance for your patience over the next few weeks.
Another reason for the revamp: a change of focus. Up to now, I've been putting as much focus on job listings as I have on writing-related blog posts. I can't do this regularly anymore, sorry. For one thing, I have enough freelance work that I no longer need to comb job boards every morning myself. I'm also finding that now there are some excellent job boards for freelance writers...rather than duplicate the effort, I'd rather just highlight them in Inkygirl (which I'll be doing soon).
My own writing focus has changed as well: in addition to nonfiction, I'm also spending more time on writing novels for young people.
So what's Inkygirl going to cover from now on?
Best of the writing blogs
I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I'm finding the growing number of blogs for and by writers out there increasingly overwhelming. In Inkygirl, I'll be highlighting blog entries and blogs I've come across which I believe are of special interest to writers, in case you missed them. I'll also be relying on reader recommendations.
Publishing industry news and impact on writers
I already cover headlines in my Market Watch column for writers, but there isn't a lot of room for in-depth editorial. I'll be using Inkygirl to take some of the publishing industry news headlines and trends I come across in my Market Watch research, and going into more details about how they'll affect the writing community.
Writing-related essays
I'll also be posting articles about topics of interest to writers, such as author promotion (including how to promote yourself even if you think you're too shy!), interviews with editors and writers, which services for writers are worth the money, etc.
Useful online resources for writers
As before, I'll be highlighting useful resources for writers and adding them to Inkygirl's categorized archives. You can then just go to a particular category like Job/Market Resources For Writers and see all listings for that topic.
Writing cartoons
And of course I'll still be posting regular cartoons for writers. :-)
I hope you'll enjoy the newly revamped Inkygirl.
