Block Magazine is looking for reporters and writers
PLEASE NOTE: If you don't follow the guidelines below, your submission may not get read.
Block Magazine, a free monthly print magazine, is actively seeking single story submissions as well as new blood to cover the news in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Bushwick, Brooklyn in an honest, fresh, and in-depth manner.
We are looking for dependable people well-versed in the art of writing who need respectable clips from a successful New York City publication and a place to hone their writing and reporting skills.
If you teach, work, party or otherwise interact with people who may be interested in sharing their personal knowledge of the area, please pass this on.
Please familiarize yourself with the magazine at www.blockmagazine.com, submit a writing sample, two article ideas, an explanation of your interest in writing in Block, and your relevance to the area. Avoid, read: AVOID attachments, keep it short, and please send to alex at blockmagazine dot com. Thanks!
NOTE ON PAY: We are on a budget and pay starts at $10 per article. Your bylines will get good exposure as our articles are frequently picked up by other publications, we break news stories the main press does not cover, the magazine is well-read and respected in the neighborhood, distributed in over 350 locations, and we have an international readership via our website at www.blockmagazine.com. We do not mean to offend with the low fee - this is a community magazine with local advertising.
