    From BOOKLIST:
"Gr. 3-5. Just before midnight on Fred's eleventh birthday, he awakens to the sound of His Royal and Eminent Highness the Prince of Tarn, fuming and cursing and calling for "the Captain of the Guard and the Stable Master." Recognizing the prince from a fantasy his mother had written before her death and knowing that captains of the guard are in short supply in his apartment building, the astonished Fred humors his royal visitor. Along with friends and family, he helps the prince return to Tarn, where they must turn back an enchantment threatening the kingdom. Although not every element of the fantasy is convincing, Canadian novelist Hutchins creates some memorable scenes, including the poignant moment when the prince realizes he's not in Tarn anymore, and the eventful day when he attends school with Fred. A few sketchy ink drawings illustrate the text. For larger collections and those seeking Canadian representation. "Carolyn Phelan --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.
